If I had a nickle…

It seems that every week there is a story that is sure to make the national news about why a company or organization should have conducted background checks. This week is no exception. While perusing my daily Google news reminders I came across this article. 

Richard Gibbs was a confessed child molester with strong academic
qualifications when he joined Shippensburg University’s faculty in 1990.

His criminal past escaped the university’s search committee and the administration.

His
peers in the communication/journalism department knew nothing of his
1987 guilty plea to an indecent assault charge and subsequent 6-month
jail sentence in Warren County.
