Dinner: Impossible television chef, Robert Irvine was fired from the Food Network for fudging his resume. Oh the humanity! C’mon. Can’t anyone tell the truth? I’ve actually watched this entertaining show and the opening mentions the British chef’s accomplishments including that he cooked for Britain’s Royal Family. Unfortunately, I guess this wasn’t true.
Am I surprised someone lied on their resume? Not really. We find a 56% discrepancy between what someone puts on their resume and what we find when we conduct education and employment verifications. Am I surprised that the Food Network didn’t know this before they promoted this television show? YES! As a fan of the show, I can say that the absence of that credential would not have dissuaded me from watching.

I too am upset about loosing Robert Irvine. I am sure Symon knows his stuff, but Robert had a personality that made the show. I have very few shows that I take the time to remember what day this are one. Dinner Impossible on Wednesday night was one that I always remembered. He will be missed, and no I will not watch the show now.
YOU LOST A VIEWER!
ROBERT PROVED TO MILLIONS OF PEOPLE,
THAT HE WAS A WONDERFUL CHEF! AND ENTERTAINER! I AM SO TURNED OFF BY THE NEXT DINNER IMPOSIBLE HOST. SIMON!!??
NO WAY GOOD BYE DINNER IMPOSIBLE, AND GOODBYE FOOD NET WORK!
HELLO FINE LIVING CHANNEL. HERE I COME!
You have made a HUGE mistake in letting robert go! I am sure more than half of the people that work for the Foodnetwork have fudged their resumes! You fire Robert but keep people like Sandra Lee the alchoholic, The repulsive sloppy Nelly’s or Ida Gardner and her snooty show with her obviously hen pecked gay husband? Give us a break! What a joke this network has become. Oh and now “Big Daddy” is the new star? Please!!!! You have lost several viewers. My community used to gather together Wed nights to watch his show and you have now lost another 53 people.
Chef Irvine made a mistake. Get over it! Chef Irvine proved he was up to the task;his personality and ability engaged people like me. It is a severe disappointment that he will no longer be on Dinner Impossible. Chef Simon may be capable but he certainly is no Robert Irvine. I hope this is not the last we hear from Chef Irvine. He has many followers that are eager to see him again.
Okay, so the guy made a mistake. I would submit that there are hundred’s of thousands of people that “fudge” their resume all of the time. Granted Robert’s was a bit more than “fudging”.
BUT!! What about his fans, the ratings, and the way he made this show such a success. As a loyal viewer of Food Network, and Dinner impossible, I am very saddened by the Network’s decision, and will not likely watch the new host.
I guess I will have to watch something else on Wed. Not the Foodnetwork
Jacquie Says:
The Food Network made a big mistake firing Chef
Robert Irvine. Not only did he display excellent culinary skills, he had personality and charisma that brought Dinner Impossible to life. In all fairness, I did attempt to watch the show with Chef Simon but I couldn’t get past the first ten minutes which is an indication that I will not watch it again. “Everyday people” in all walks of life have at some point embellished their resume’. At least Chef Irvine had the ability to follow through successfully in his area of expertise.
Have you people lost your morals and your ability to spell properly. Robert Irvine does NOT deserve your support. Save your trust for people who deserve it!
I have a winter home on Florida’s West Coast and know many individuals there, and this is where his story broke first in the St Petersburg Newspaper.
There is not one single person that I know, who has met or done business with Robert Irvine in that area, that has not had problems.
Food Network should have checked this man out, it is obvious that he is a disgrace to all the good chefs out there.
I am amazed at the writers commenting on Irvine, giving him excuses by saying, everyone fudges on their resume, which is really lying.
This type of attitude amazes me, all these fibs add up. Would you want your doctor to to perform your operation and find out he lied about his ability.
Would you want to be in an airplane and the pilot has lied about his flying skills. Would you want to have your child taught by a pedophile because he lied on his resume.
Just where does the buck stop on all this lying?
A lie is a lie……………….
Is that the way you bring up your children, that it a few lies don’t matter, just don’t get caught?
It is sad that Chef Irvine was fired! The show is not the same, the new chef do not have the personality not the charm that Irvine had!! Sorry buy you lost a fan!
As the saying goes, “The proof of the pudding is in the eating” Ask yourself, how many of you nay-sayers here could perform a fraction of what he actually did in a kitchen?
So, he inflated his resume! So what!! If we fired every CEO for inflating their resumes we would have to fire half the executives in the country.
Welcome to the real world people.
used to love Robert Irvine and the dinner impossible show. its a pity they fired him, Isn’t the humiliation stinging enough ? Anyways the new host of the show Iron chef Symon doesn’t quite cut it. the occassional guttural laugh is very unsettling. Oh by the way, Giada’s cleavage shows and Sandra Lee’s silly tablescapes and Paula Deen’s debuachery, oops, i mean party shows are nothing but overrated..
I guess they dont care about loss of viewers, since they are all in their happy places..
[...] reported last March that Chef Robert Irvine had been unceremoniously terminated from his Food Network show Dinner Impossible for embellishing his resume. Irvine claimed that he [...]
Perhaps if the food network did their job a bit better, this never would have happend, and he never would have had a show. Would have been a shame, I liked his show…and him!!
REHIRE HIM PLEASE, IF WE CAN FORGIVE BILL CLINTON, WHY NOT ROBERT IRVINE, HE DESERVES A 2ND CHANCE, AMERICA LOVE’S HIM
Hey, I worked in the restaurant business a long time. We hired a lot of chefs that fudged resumes’. As long as they did the job, no problem. Given that we have banksters and politicians robbing Americans blind, since when does the Food Network (a subsidiary of NBC no less; that paragon of liberal-communist news media that refused to vet Barack Obama, which we are all going to pay for shortly) play the “holier-than-thou” game???
Put Robert Irvine back on Dinner:Impossible. The man knows his stuff, can cook like hell, and does it with class and humor. We don’t have a lot of class and humor on TV, and even my kids used to watch him and were amazed by the way he cooked so much food, with limited ingredients, and on short notice.
Give the guy a chance and bring him back. You’ll bring back my entire family to the Food Network channel. The only ones we watch now are Emeril and Mario–those guys are the only chefs left on TV.
Michael Symon is good, but I really enjoyed the Dinner Impossible shows with Robert Irvine more. My daughter likes Symon more, since her favorite food is also bacon. Irvine was more fun to watch,( both in personality and physique), and he is really an excellent chef. Please bring him back in some capacity!!!!
Robert Ivine, from the start of his show each wednesday night that i really enjoy watching is really exciting and very challenging but for so long of being on the show you people (foodnetwork) just now discovered his resume to be false? isn’t it to late for that which you all should have screened all applications/resumes to begin with? Robert you are magnificent with the true chef skills that you have my, hats to you …oh yeah guy fieri’s show is very interesting you should watch it.
